Mary Portas & Clarks – A Shoe Collection for Women

Mary Portas and Clarks have collaborated to create a range of shoes for women – designer shoes – with a fashionable and contemporary look, with Clarks high standards for comfort and wearability built in.

Who is Mary Portas?

Mary Portas is the star of the  ”Mary Queen of Shops” TV programme and a retail guru, who started off as a Saturday girl in John Lewis, ultimately becoming the creative force at Harvey Nichols.

Last year, as Mary was approaching 50, she became increasingly aware of how focused the UK High Street is on young designs, with few designs dedicated to more mature women. Thus, she decided to collaborate with Clarks to create a capsule collection of beautiful shoes for grown-up women.

Mary Portas says that each and every style is perfect for a woman’s lifestyle. The collection has a great range of footwear from court shoes to wedges that are not only stylish, but also deceptively comfortable.

She says: “I defy anyone to say they could find a more comfortable three-inch heel than mine – a true shoe revolution!” 

Tell me about the shoes!

The shoes in the photo at the top are from the current Mary Portas & Clarks collection. They are (from top left, going left to right):

• La Magdalene – a pink and red peep toe sandal with a slim platform sole and high stiletto heel.
• La Antoinette – a smart leopard print leather ankle boot with a side zip fastening, which is also available in black.
• La Jane – a teal suede Mary Jane shoe with a button fastening ankle strap and a slim stiletto heel. This shoe is also available in oxblood, caramel or black.
• La Contrary  - a shiny oxblood patent leather court shoe with a leather interior and soft cushioning under the foot. This shoe is also available in black leather, caramel leather and black patent leather.
